CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN SCHOOL DRESS, GROOMING AND BEHAVIOR STANDARDS

Romans 12:1,2
"I urge you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies a living and holy sacrifice, acceptable to God, which is your spiritual service of worship. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect."

Ephesians 4:29

"Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear."

Colossians 3:17
"And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus..."

It is tempting to believe that, simply because we are homeschooling our children and they are no longer exposed to the negative socialization that occurs in the public schools, that they are somehow exempt from any misbehavior. Perhaps we think that, by osmosis, our children will abide by a higher standard of conduct then the rest of humankind. However, this is not always the case. In the past there have been reports of inappropriate behavior at some of our school's events. In response to this, the CRCS board has set forth some guidelines in regard to public gatherings and field trips. We must remember that we are still in a minority in the population as a whole, and therefore, will be watched closely and scrutinized, especially when out in groups. We went to leave a good impression. Churches who allow us to use their facilities could withdraw that privilege at any time, and we do not want our behavior to cause that to happen.

SPEECH AND CONVERSATION: Students and faculty of Crossroads Christian School should seek to glorify God and build another up through their conversation. Therefore, profane, slanderous, sacrilegious, obscene or suggestive language is inappropriate and is not acceptable. Since our school uses church facilities throughout the community for various functions, it is imperative that our behavior be respectful and considerate at all times.

DRESS AND GROOMING STANDARDS: Students and faculty are expected to dress neatly, modestly and appropriately for the occasion. Each student is expected to submit to the judgment of school officials regarding interpretation of these dress and grooming standards. When a student or parent chooses to dress inappropriately and is asked to change, immediate cooperation will be expected.

All clothing should be clean and in good repair; not tight fitting or sheer. Any clothing with written or visual messages, advertisements, etc, deemed offensive or inappropriate by school officials may not be worn. Advertisements for tobacco products, alcoholic beverages, etc. are not permitted.

Shirts: Any tank-style tops worn must be modest, not tight fitting, with no spaghetti straps. No tank-style tops with oversized arm holes and T-shirts with oversized arm holes are permitted. No short cropped shirts or bare midriffs are permitted. Necklines on all Women's tops and dresses must be modest.

Shorts, Skirts, and Pants: No short shorts or short skirts. No spandex or tight fitting leggings are to be worn unless other shorts/skirts are also being worn. Pants must cover those bare body parts they were intended to cover; no sagging pants allowed.

Jewelry: No nose jewelry or rings, studs, etc. that pierce any visible body parts except ears are permitted.
